Multimodal learning: How task types affect learning of students with reading difficulties

Purpose: The prevalence of multimedia technology in the current educational settings has increased need for investigating how individual differences such as reading difficulties moderate learning. Given that instructional designs closely interact with task characteristics and requirements, we aimed to explore students perform various types learning tasks within context instruction.Methods: College without viewed a lesson on stem cell research while their eye movements were recorded. After viewing slides, completed four pertaining content provided lesson.Results: Students performed poorer than peers procedural groups’ performance did not differ definitional, infographic, argumentative tasks. Further, there was no difference fixation counts gaze duration between two groups.Conclusions: Our findings underscore importance an awareness used assess students’ knowledge may impact performance. Information this nature be useful determining optimal experiences difficulties.
